It's Handloading Season! It has been my annual custom, at the beginning of winter, to set up the reloading press and top off the ammo cans I emptied during the summer. A few years ago, I realized that my annual ritual of digging out the reloading supplies evoked the same type of nostalgia I experienced in my early youth while setting up holiday decorations.
It always happened the same way: after dinner on a cold, dark night in early winter we would go out to the garage, climb a rickety ladder up to the attic, and hand down the boxes of seasonal decor. Then came the decorating... opening the boxes and seeing the familiar ornaments wrapped up from the previous year causing floods of memories. After 16-years of winter reloading, I experience similar emotions now setting up my reloading equipment every year.
For the handloaders in the group, I am planning on holding an online class this winter focusing on ammunition reloading. If that is something that interests you, keep an eye on these newsletters and our Facebook page for the class announcement.

Ironically, in the midst of an ammo price hike, I have seen primers advertised as available. The prices are steep, but I think the days of cheap primers are over, just be happy you can get them if you need them. I have seen them available at Brownells, Midsouth, and Powder Valley. If you are a handloader, make sure you have enough primers to get you by!

LEGISLATION UPDATE
When the existing laws aren't enforced or don't work (because criminals don't follow the laws), the same stale answers pop up again and again.
In the wake of the most recent high-profile mass killing, the usual proposals are making their way around again: "assault weapon" bans, "high-capacity" magazine bans, "Universal" background checks, red-flag laws... None of these things will keep guns out of the hands of criminals or prevent mass killings. These events are used as an excuse, a "lightning rod" to drive anti-gun legislation.

The Biden administration recently fired another shot at the firearms industry by freezing commercial firearms exports.
