MARCH 2025
Shooting weather is right around the corner. Time to go knock the cobwebs off. When was the last time you hit the range with your rimfires? .22 rimfire shooting hones the fundamentals, mainly because follow-through behaviors aren't masked by recoil. In addition, unlike high-velocity rifle bullets that exit an 18" barrel in just over a millisecond from ignition, slower .22 rimfires take almost 3 milliseconds to exit the same 18" barrel. That doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it's just enough that improper recoil management and follow-through will show up downrange.

At SHOT Show this year, I got a chance to check out Bergara's B14 precision rimfire, which fortunately for me, comes in a left-handed version.

I just received one for review and I'm pretty impressed with it so far. At 50 yards with Eley subsonic match ammunition, it's printing 10-round groups that can fit under a dime.

I will be doing some more evaluation and will post an article in the articles section of the website, as well as on Spotterup.com in the next week or so.

IS SOMEONE MESSING WITH YOUR STUFF?
Also on the articles section, I recently posted a review of the Kinisium motion-activated alert system. The "Kini" is a small device that can be used to notify you by text and/or email when it detects motion. It's great for gun safes and vaults, as well as drawers or anywhere else you have WiFi and want to be notified of motion. It would be a great tool for folks who spend time in hotel rooms to know if someone is bothering your items when you aren't there.

LEGAL LANDSCAPE
With gun control dead on the federal level for a few years, and the ATF finally getting slapped with some restraints by the Trump Administration, gun control advocates will be focusing hard on state-level controls. Hopefully, some of the pending cases being fought in various Judicial districts will set precedent that is applicable nationally. Of special concern for ADC Alumni are the following:
IDAHO - Efforts are underway to expand the "stand-your-ground" law to include provisions like criminal immunity for individuals acting in self-defense. A fix to the firearm preemption law is also being discussed, as well as a bill seeking to prohibit concealed weapons limitations at public colleges and universities.
NEW MEXICO - The "GOSAFE" act proposes a sweeping ban in common semi-automatic firearms and magazines. In addition, there is an attempt to expand red-flag laws. Both of these proposals would be disastrous for firearms owners in the land of enchantment (while doing nothing to address the out-of-control crime there). I think there are severe issues with the constitutionality of this act, and in the wake of the Bruen decision, it's likely the courts will think so to. I am hoping this act is just the result of liberal politicians palliating their voting base, as similar attempts at these types of bans have traditionally failed in New Mexico, but there are some true believers in state government there who don't seem to give a wink about Constitutionality. Keep the calls and emails flowing to your representatives if you value your gun rights in New Mexico!

OHIO has a few different bills pending. House Bill 45 would institute a 10-day waiting period for firearms purchases. House Bill 46 is a red-flag bill. Senate Bill 48 seeks to exempt firearms and ammunition from sales tax. and House Bill 68 seeks to permit concealed carry in government buildings excluding courthouses.
