SHOT SHOW 2025

I just got back from SHOT Show 2025 in Las Vegas. I walked over 25 miles through the exhibits over 3 days and still didn't get to see them all. What did I see? well...
Glock and Aimpoint have collaborated to create a new red-dot mounting system and optics cut for their pistols that is probably the most secure yet. The "A-CUT" It makes for a simple, low-profile design that offers a very strong, secure platform for Aimpoints new COA slide-mounted red-dots. Great teaming by 2 industry-leading brands.

The .338 ARC was at range day and I was excited to try that. Let's face it, sub-sonic rounds limit muzzle velocity to the 1050 fps neighborhood, so improving downrange performance while removing the supersonic "crack" means increasing bullet weight, ballistic coefficient, sectional density, and diameter.
The temperatures were cool, but the wind this year was out of control and that dropped the temperatures and made the dust really blow.

Additive manufacturing of suppressors using exotic materials like Inconel, Titanium, and 17-4 stainless steel is increasing. PTR has a new 3D printed, forward vented rifle suppressor that is impressively quiet. The technology behind these cans is still very new, so I want to see how cans hold up and if they experience carbon clogging issues. We can discuss theoreticals on them all day, but I'll wait till I get feedback from the end-users in the field.
The COA was designed to fit standard sized as well as slim-line Glock pistols. Right now, the Aimpoint COA optic is sold exclusively as a package with the G43X, G48, G19 Gen5, G45, and G47 pistols and is not being sold separately.

The .338 ARC certainly does these things, launching a giant 307 grain .338 caliber projectile. Recoil is a polite push and with a 9mm pistol suppressor or one of the new .360" diameter bore suppressors (like the Rugged 360 Alaskan), it makes for a reasonably quiet package that delivers much more downrange energy.
This was a year of teaming between companies: Magpul and Ruger have teamed up to create a new polymer-frame striker-fired pistol. 5.11 Tactical and Sig have also teamed up to create their Range-Ready collection, including apparel, range bags, and other accessories. I brought home some 5.11 stuff, including some coats, boots, and a range bag. I'll be writing reviews on these items shortly.

Speaking of gear reviews: I plan on updating the articles section of the ADC website with reviews for these items and other gear. I'll be posting links on our Facebook page and on this newsletter when the reviews are posted. Give the Adaptive Defense Concepts Facebook page a follow.
SHOT Show folks love their swag. Maxim Defense was giving away a limited quantity of some of the largest patches I've ever seen this year. I had to make some room on the patch wall to accommodate this one!

UPGRADED FIELD REPAIR KITS

The first field repair kits got a great response. Since then, based on some customer feedback, I've made a few design changes.
1.) Shrouding the top of the bolt head holder to add strength and eliminate rattle.
2.) Improving the retention tab geometry to give it more strength and flexibility.
3.) Improving the material to a higher-temperature, impact, and chemical resistant glycol-modified copolyester. (It is a little shinier, but can be painted if that is an issue).

I have plenty of black kits available but I'm still trying to get a close color match for Magpul flat dark earth. The OD green is very close to Magpul OD green furniture and I also have a foliage green.

I'm working on designs to fit standard GI grips as well.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION 2.0

It looks like the pro-gun community has a few good years coming under the new administration. I spoke with some representatives of the BATFE at SHOT show and they were all being unusually friendly and outgoing. Their comments also seemed to indicate some apprehension about the future of the agency. I would be very surprised if the proposed "abolish the ATF" legislation actually passed and was implemented, but I do anticipate a smaller, more focused role for this agency.

I think there are some interesting times coming.
