2024 CLASS SCHEDULE POSTED!

We made it out of February! I appreciate everyone who attended our online classes this winter. It's time to get prepared for in-person classes this summer.

Usually, I leave the legal updates for the end of the email, but I actually want to start out with some important legislative action in this email.

S.3589 - Preventing Private Paramilitary Activity Act of 2024 will make it unlawful publicly patrol, drill, or engage in techniques capable of causing bodily injury or death; ...or train to do the same. The wording in this bill is so broadly applicable as to basically make firearms training or practice a criminal offense. Fortunately, this bill has no chance in passing, but this is a sign of things to come. If the radical anti-gun crowd can't ban guns, they will criminalize activities that make people effective with guns. I recommend getting training while you can, whether that is through ADC or other credible schools. When the door of the ark shuts, no one else gets in. Get your skills now!

Last week, the US Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Garland vs. Cargill case which is ATF's administrative re-interpretation of law to ban "bump-fire stocks." Regardless what you think about these accessories or their practicality, this is an important case because Congress didn't ban bump-fire stocks, ATF banned them with the stroke of a pen by re-interpreting the law. That is a problem. I don't know what the Supreme Court will decide, it's likely this case will lose, which will just empower ATF to interpret more laws the way the anti-gun crowd want.

It is important to keep the pressure on the lawmakers and politicians with your calls and letters. It is also important that we remember this, and the other problems our nation is facing, when it comes time to vote.

Designated Marksman/Special Purpose Rifle Class

One of the new classes I will be hosting in Idaho this year is a Designated Marksman/Special Purpose Rifle Class. This is a popular topic because it bridges the gap between carbine classes and precision rifle classes.

A Designated Marksman's Rifle is basically a battle rifle that has been enhanced to increase its accuracy and distance capabilities. Early examples like the M1-C and M1-D, HK PSG-1, and M-21 were service rifles modified into "sniper" rifles. At the beginning of the Global War on Terror, a number of special rifle configurations we built that weren't quite "sniper" rifles, according to the modern definition, but were capable of more accuracy at distance than the standard service rifle. Examples include the SEAL RECCE (Recon Rifle), Crane Mk-12 SPR, and M14 EBR.
Mk 12 SPR in use by Designated Marksman. Even though the Mk12 is an older configuration, it has maintained its popularity as a versatile platform.
ADC's Designated Marksman's Rifle class is a fast-moving class that begins with close quarters applications of these rifles, then integrates advanced field positions at intermediate distances. Targets will be small and shots will be taken in compressed time frames. It is recommended that you have taken our Black Rifle 101 class, Scoped Rifle Elements class, or equivalent class from another school.

I still have handguards available in carbine, midlength, and rifle length. I can also build you a complete upper in one of these configurations if you don't have the armorer's tools available. Let me know if you are interested and we can discuss what configuration is right for you!
One last thought, wait times for NFA items like silencers have been unusually fast. A friend of mine just had 2 silencers clear in 5 days. That's unheard-of. If you have ever thought about investing in a sound suppressor for your firearms, I would maybe jump on that now. Check out Capitol Armory or Silencer Shop for the easiest way to purchase. Of course, word has spread on the forums and suppressor purchases are up exponentially, so no guarantees... but, this is maybe a window of opportunity.

If you are new to NFA ownership, it does have its hassles, like the $200 per-item one time transfer tax... but suppressors do make for more pleasant shooting.
