Safety
Although there is a certain level of risk involved in handling firearms, as with many activities, this risk can be successfully managed by following certain safety rules at all times.
1. Always know the condition of your firearm
- Treat ALL firearms as if they are loaded
2. Control the muzzle
- Do not allow the muzzle of a firearm under your control to “sweep” or point at anything you aren’t willing and justified to kill, hurt, destroy, or pay for.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are prepared to shoot.
- When not shooting, the trigger finger must be “indexed” away from the trigger.
4. Know where your bullets will go, and know where your bullets will stop
- Know what is between the muzzle and the target,
- Positively identify the target,
- Be aware of what is in the target vicinity,
- Know what is beyond the target,
- Be assured of a safe backstop.
THE SHOOTER is responsible for EVERY round they fire.
These rules are in place for the safety of students, instructors, and the surrounding community. Students will be expected to adhere to these rules at all times. Students who endanger themselves or others by failing to follow all safety rules and instructions will not be permitted to participate. Anyone who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to participate. Absolutely no live ammunition is permitted in the classroom. Hearing and eye protection is required for all shooting activities. PPE is available for student use at no extra charge.
Firearms
For students bringing their own firearms, we request that they ensure guns are clean, correctly lubricated, and in safe operating condition. All federal, state, and local firearms laws must be adhered to. We advise against steel-cased/jacketed ammunition types as these can cause safety issues such as increased ricochet and fire hazards. Please do not bring tracer, incendiary, explosive or other “exotic” ammunition types. Students should contact us if they are unsure or need further information about ammunition prior to classes.
Payment Terms
There are some conditions that can result in the student’s training or range session being discontinued and which will result in failure of the class:
- Evidence of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
- Demonstrates poor or improper attitude regarding firearms and/or use of lethal force,
- Failure to follow the 4 Fundamental Firearms Safety Rules,
- Failure to keep shots on safety berms or safe backstop,
- Failure to follow instructions resulting in these or other unsafe conditions.
There will be no refunds for students who’s training is discontinued for deliberately, repeatedly, or egregiously violating any of these rules. Students who can not finish training due to other issues (such as personal medical issues) can work with the instructor to reschedule their training or choose to discontinue and receive a partial refund (deposit will be forfeited).
Any unpaid balance is due upon arrival to class. Class fee is payable cash, check, charge, or money order. No-call/No-show students forfeit class deposit. In the event a class needs to be canceled due to extreme weather, not meeting class student minimum, or other circumstances beyond our control, we will refund the full amount already paid or allow the student to apply that payment to a future class. .
